As we have talked about earlier, fantasy sport is a type of game where the participants assemble virtual teams of real players of a professional sport, often played on the internet. These teams compete based on the statistical performance of those players in actual games and are given points accordingly. Many sports have adapted this form of virtual gaming and the world’s biggest game is no different with Fantasy Premier League.
Fantasy football is one of the most popular virtual games amongst football fans and Fantasy Premier League is the biggest of them all. With over 6 million players, Fantasy Premier League is the biggest Fantasy Football game in the world. Well, why, you would ask. That’s simply because the English Premier League is the most popular football league in the world. The EPL is broadcasted across the globe in more than 200 countries and reaches over 4 billion people.
EPL Fantasy Leagues are fairly simple to play and require you to make an account and sign in. You have a budget of £100m to pick a squad of 15 players from the Premier League. Once your team is ready, select the starting 11 you wish to play by the gameweek deadline. You have to follow these rules while selecting your playing XI for EPL Fantasy Football:
- All your points for the Gameweek will be scored by these 11 players, however, if one or more doesn’t play they may be automatically substituted.
- Your team can play in any formation providing that 1 goalkeeper, at least 3 defenders and at least 1 forward are selected at all times.
- From your starting 11, you nominate a captain and a vice-captain. Your captain’s score will be doubled.
- If your captain plays 0 minutes in the Gameweek, the captain will be changed to the vice-captain.
Once you have selected your Premier League Fantasy squad, you can buy and sell players in the transfer market. Unlimited transfers can be made at no cost until your first deadline. Once the first deadline is up, you can make 1 free transfer per gameweek. For each additional transfer in a gameweek, 4 points are deducted from your total score at the start of the gameweek. If you don’t use your 1 free transfer, it can be used next week. However, you can never have more than 1 saved transfer.
There are the following chips which you can use to enhance the performance of your team for the week.
Throughout the season, your fantasy football players are scored based on their actual performance in the English Premier League. Here’s how the points are allocated:
You can also create leagues, enter your squad, and compete with friends and other players.
